Spring Basketball
Several local middle school basketball teams participated in a tournament at Jefferson Middle School during the week end of April 16th-19th 2009. Cosby, Edgemont, Parrottsvile, and Maury middle school were some of the teams that hit the hardwood.

FROG VOL REPORT: Mens and Womens Basketball 12-22-2008
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. The 16th ranked Tennessee Vols (8-2) barely escaped an upset from the Belmont Bruins on Saturday, with a 79-77 victory. The Bruins who beat Alabama and Cincinnati on the road last year and almost upset Duke in last years NCAA tourney, had four seniors and nine of their top 11 players return from last season, almost added the Vols to their list of upsets.
Elementary Hoops Round 9
NEWPORT-Hard to believe, but Cocke County’s elementary basketball squads have already reached the end of their seasons’ first half. And, as usual, there was no shortage of excitement.
The first-half season wrapped up on Thursday night with Del Rio playing at Smoky Mountain, Grassy Fork at home to Bridgeport, Northwest playing at Cosby and Parrottsville at home to Edgemont.
