TROJANS BUSTED
Can you say Karma? A lot of Vol fans are after the NCAA told USC “NO BOWL FOR YOU”. After an intensive investigation of former football player and now Super Bowl champ Reggie Bush and NBA star O.J. Mayo, the NCAA made an example out of USC. For the next two years the Trojans cannot go to a post season bowl, even if they go through the season undefeated. Also they have lost 30 (THIRTY) scholarships, and are on probation for four years. The wins they had in 2004-2005 (14) are wiped away from the record books and they may still lose the BCS title they earned that year. Reggie Bush may also loose his Heisman Trophy he won in 2005 due to his intelligibility that season. This means that there will be no BCS champion for that year.
According to the NCAA investigation, Bush received gifts from two sports agents such as paid motel rooms and also a rent-free home for Bush’s parents. Also they purchased a brand new suit for Bush and a limo drive to the December 2005 Heisman Trophy presentation. Reggie was ruled ineligible for the entire 2005 season. Bush said in a statement that he was “disappointed for the fans and the university”, well maybe he shouldn’t have accepted the offers as this is clearly a violation of the NCAA rules. Former head football coach and current head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, Pete Carroll said he “was absolutely shocked”, maybe that’s why he left USC after last season for the NFL job, which opened the door for Lame Kiffen to accept that position and leave UT high and dry. Kiffen said “we will continue to play championship football” too bad Lame that you cant play championship football if you cant go to the championship!
The NCAA took no action against the basketball team which imposed penalties on itself last season which included being banned from post-season play last year and also forfeiting all of its wins when Mayo played for them.
Also the women’s tennis team was also cited for unauthorized phone calls mad e by a former player but the university vacated all of its wins they had between November 2006 and May 2009.

The match-ups are set and its down to only four teams left in the NBA play-offs.
EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS: Boston Celtics (50-32) vs. Orlando Magic (59-23)
Orlando finished off Atlanta (53-29) this week in a sweep of the seven game series, they also sailed through the first round against the Charlotte Bobcats (44-38). With an average of 17.25 margin of victory, the Magic seems to be the team that is playing its best in the post-season.
However, Boston hasn’t had it as easy, in the first round against the Miami Heat (47-35) it took five games to advance to the match-up with King James and the Cleveland Cavaliers (61-21) where they fell behind two games to one before finishing the series with three wins in a row. Celtics average margin of victory 15.13 points.
The series begins on Sunday May 16th in Orlando, and they have played each other four times this season with the Magic winning three of those match-ups.
WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS: L.A. Lakers (57-25) vs. Phoenix Suns (54-28)
The L.A. Lakers, took a two game lead on the Oklahoma City Thunder (50-32) before the Thunder rumbled back to tie the series. LA finished them off in the next two games winning the last game by only one point. The Utah Jazz (57-25) were no match for them as they swept that series. Lakers average margin of victory 7.38 points.
Phoenix won their first round series with the Portland Trailblazers (50-32) four games to two and they also swept their opponent, the San Antonio Spurs (50-32), in the second round. Suns average margin of victory 12.88 points.
This series starts on Monday May 17th, and LA has took three out of four games over the Suns this season.

Tennessee Smokies In First Place
The Tennessee Smokies (20-10) are in first place in the Southern League. As an affiliate of the Chicago Cubs the Smokies have proved this season that their is a reason to be excited about minor league baseball. Tennessee sits atop of their division in the North with Huntsville (16-14) trailing behind. Jacksonville (19-10) is tops in the South. Although it is still early in the season and alot can happen, the Smokies are an exciting team to watch. They begin a five game home stand against the Carolina Mudcats (11-19) on Monday May 10th at Smokies Park in Sevierville.
They seem to do much better on the road, as they are 12-3 away and 8-7 at home.
